Best Local Brand Finalist Best Buddies
Keith Haring, one of the best-known contemporary artists in the world, created and donated what has become the Best Buddies (BB) logo. It incorporates a colorful creation that represents one-to-one affection and acceptance. Each color represents one of BB’s key mission pillars. FRIENDSHIP is yellow, JOBS is teal and LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT is orange. What makes the Best Buddies brand so easily recognizable and memorable is a combination of art and celebrity panache. We employ a simple and integrated approach: a genuine, mutually beneficial, one-to-one friendship between a person with a disability and a person without a disability. And, it is friendship that changes the world!
Best Buddies uses a variety of proprietary data tools, surveys, and various social media platforms to communicate with and learn from our customers. An example of this is what our youth volunteers in our Friendship program told us in person. We learned that this customer group preferred texts over emails. In response, we began using group texts to communicate with them. In doing so, we noticed an immediate increase in responsiveness of our volunteers. From market information we learned of the emerging trend of our youth volunteers preferred Instagram over Facebook, and the utilization of SnapChat.
